Safety, Education & User Guide
Your Money, Your Life — protection for every user of iloveblr.com.
This page is our commitment to your safety. Read it before you post, chat, meet or pay anyone. Last updated: October 2026. Effective: October 2026.
Our Promise — And Our Honest Limits
Classifieds platforms can impact your money, your safety, your home and your livelihood. Search engines classify this as "Your Money, Your Life" (YMYL) content — the highest standard of care. We take it seriously.
- Every listing is an advertisement only. iloveblr is not a party to any transaction.
- We verify identity, not honesty. Google OAuth and mobile OTP prove a person exists — they do not prove a listing is real.
- We monitor continuously, but no system is 100%. You are the final safety layer.
- We teach you how to protect yourself. This page is written for education first, warnings second.
- We publish our limits. Honesty about what we can and cannot do is part of trust.
Important — this guide does not guarantee 100% protection.
Following every tip on this page reduces your risk — it does not eliminate it. Scammers invent new tricks every day. If you follow this guide fully and still get scammed, iloveblr is not responsible or liable. Full disclaimer: §21.
1. How iloveblr Works — Bengaluru Listings, Worldwide Usefulness
iloveblr lists only from Bengaluru. We intentionally focus on one city so information stays accurate and real. A rental in Electronic City is tagged to that locality, a job in Whitefield originates from that locality, and a second-hand listing in Koramangala is physically there.
That accuracy makes the platform useful far beyond Bengaluru. Companies in the city hire from across India and abroad. Families search rentals for their children moving to Bengaluru. NRIs search property. Organisations plan events here. All these users need reliable local information before they arrive — and that is what we provide.
Our system prioritises neighbourhood search. A product in Kammanahalli is shown first to users in HRBR Layout and Kalyan Nagar. A rental in Electronic City is shown first to Electronic City searches. This 5–10 km radius logic helps you find what is genuinely near you, whether you are in Bengaluru or searching from elsewhere.
2. What iloveblr Is — And What It Is Not
iloveblr is an advertisement platform only.
Every listing — free ads, jobs, properties, events, vehicles and services — is posted by a user. We do not sell, own, inspect, ship, or warrant any product, service, property or opportunity. We do not process payments between users. We do not handle delivery. We do not guarantee quality.
What we do: provide the listing infrastructure, the chat system, the verification tools, the moderation, and this education page.
What we do not do: act as a broker, dealer, employer, landlord, escrow service or guarantor. Every transaction is between you and another user, at your own risk and your own diligence.
3. Our Verification and Trust Layers — What We Check, What We Do Not
To protect you, we operate layered verification. We publish what each layer does — and what it cannot do — so that you are never misled about safety.
Layer 1 — Google OAuth (Identity)
Every interactive action requires Google sign-in. This confirms a valid Google account exists behind the user. Your Google email, Google ID, first name, last name and Google profile photo are never shown publicly. Your public identity is your Display Profile — the display name and optional display photo you set yourself. If you have not set a display name, the platform shows "BLR User".
What it proves: a Google account exists. What it does not prove: that the user is honest, that the listing is real, or that the person behind the account is who they claim to be.
Layer 2 — Mobile OTP / Call / Email (Contactability)
Before any ad is published, the poster must verify a mobile number via OTP, a verification call, or an email confirmation link. This confirms the poster can be reached at that number.
What it proves: the poster controls a reachable number. What it does not prove: that the number belongs to the seller's real identity — a scammer can buy a SIM. Always cross-verify.
Layer 3 — Backend Monitoring (Behaviour)
Our backend continuously reviews activity across posts, edits, chat, reports and interaction patterns to detect spam, fraud and abuse. We also operate manual moderation.
What it can do: detect patterns, flag suspicious behaviour, remove listings, suspend accounts. What it cannot do: see into your private transaction, verify a listing is physically real, or prevent every scam. No system — automated or manual — is 100% effective.
Layer 4 — You (The Final Layer)
You are the only person who can verify the listing, meet the seller, inspect the product, check documents and decide to pay. No platform — iloveblr included — can replace your own diligence. The rest of this page teaches you how to be that final layer well. But even a well-informed user can be deceived by a new type of scam that did not exist before this page was written.
4. How to Browse and Search Safely
- Browse listings without login — no account is needed to view.
- Search by locality, category and price. Use the correct locality so results are within 5–10 km.
- Read the full description. Check the photos carefully — do they look original or copied from the internet?
- Check the seller's Display Profile and history. A new account with no history deserves more caution.
- Report anything suspicious before you engage. Reporting is available to guests and logged-in users alike.
5. How to Post Correctly and Ethically
Posting requires Google sign-in and a verified mobile number. This is a trust measure, not a barrier.
Good listings are:
- Genuine — you own the item, offer the service, or have the authority to advertise the property or job.
- Accurate — photos you took, description that matches, price that reflects reality.
- Local — the item, property, job or service is actually in Bengaluru.
- Clear — locality named correctly so it surfaces in the right 5–10 km radius.
- Honest about condition — especially for second-hand vehicles, mobiles and electronics.
Do not post:
- Counterfeit, replica, "first copy" or "master copy" goods of any brand.
- Listings that claim to be an authorised dealer, official reseller or brand representative when you are not.
- Fake jobs that ask for registration fees, training fees or security deposits.
- Property listings with hidden brokerage when you advertise "owner direct".
- Duplicate ads, misleading photos, spam links or ads copied from other platforms.
- Anything illegal — narcotics, weapons, wildlife products, stolen goods, sexual services, unlicensed financial products.
Why this matters: your listing is seen by real people making real financial decisions. A misleading ad is not a marketing trick — it is a source of harm.
6. How to Use Chat Safely
Chat connects you to the seller, employer or organizer directly. It is private, but it is a tool — not a guarantee of the other person's honesty.
In chat, always:
- Keep conversations on iloveblr chat until you are confident about the other user.
- Ask specific questions — exact location, ownership documents, condition, warranty, service history.
- Verify claims independently. A photo of an RC book is not a verified RC book.
- Save screenshots of important conversations — useful if you later need to report.
In chat, never:
- Share OTPs, card numbers, CVV, UPI PIN, passwords, Aadhaar or net banking credentials.
- Click external links to payment pages sent by the other party. These are the #1 vector of fraud.
- Send money before you have verified the person and the item.
- Continue if the other party pressures you, creates urgency, or refuses to meet or show documents.
Tip: We may store and review chat messages for safety, fraud prevention and dispute resolution. Your chat identity uses your Display Profile — not your Google name.
7. How to Transact Safely — No Escrow, No Intermediary
iloveblr does not process payments between users for classifieds. There is no checkout, no escrow, no order protection. Every rupee you pay to another user goes directly to them — you cannot claw it back through iloveblr.
Follow this sequence:
- Verify first. Chat, then meet or video-call, then inspect.
- Inspect in person. See the actual item, vehicle, property or document — not just photos.
- Agree in writing. For property and vehicles, get a written agreement or bill of sale with the seller's name and number.
- Pay in a traceable way. Prefer digital payment (UPI, NEFT, cheque) so a record exists. Avoid cash for significant amounts.
- Collect proof. Receipts, messages, photos, transfer reference numbers — keep everything.
Never: pay advance deposits to strangers, send "token amounts" to hold an item you have not seen, pay "registration fees" for a job, or transfer money to a "delivery agent" you cannot independently verify.
8. Meeting in Person — Personal Safety
Your physical safety comes before any deal.
- Meet in public, in daylight. A busy mall, coffee shop, bank branch or well-lit main road with foot traffic.
- Never meet alone at a private residence for a first meeting. If you must visit a property or home, take a friend or family member.
- Tell someone. Share where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to return.
- Share live location. Enable it for a trusted contact during the meeting.
- Carry your phone, charged. Keep emergency numbers saved.
- Trust your instinct. If something feels wrong, leave. There is always another listing.
9. Protecting Your Money — The Core of YMYL
Money lost to a fraudster is rarely recoverable. The best defence is prevention. Learn these rules once, and apply them every time.
9.1 Advance Payment Rules
- Never pay advance to someone you have not met and verified. No deposit, no booking amount, no "token advance", no "registration fee".
- Never pay to "hold" an item you have not physically inspected.
- Never pay a delivery or courier agent you cannot independently verify. Fraudsters invent fake delivery agents who disappear with your money.
- Never pay via gift cards, crypto, or cryptocurrency apps — these are irreversible and heavily used in scams.
9.2 UPI and Digital Payment Rules
- Never share your UPI PIN, OTP, or card CVV with anyone — not the buyer, not the seller, not someone claiming to be from iloveblr, not someone from your bank.
- Remember: receiving money does not require your PIN. If anyone asks you to enter your PIN to "receive" a payment, it is a scam.
- Beware "request money" vs "send money". A payment request is not a payment. A fraudster may send you a request and claim it is a refund.
- Check the UPI ID carefully before paying — scammers use lookalike handles (e.g., @ybl vs @ybi).
- Do not scan QR codes sent by strangers unless you have verified the payee.
- Use your bank's official app — not links sent in chat.
9.3 Bank and Account Safety
- Enable transaction alerts (SMS + email) on every bank account.
- Use two-factor authentication on your Google account, email and bank.
- Never install screen-sharing apps (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, QuickSupport) at the request of a stranger — this is the #1 vector of remote banking fraud.
- Never enter banking credentials on a link sent by a stranger, even if it looks like your bank's website.
10. Recognising Common Scams — A Catalogue
Fraudsters reuse the same patterns across India. Learn these signals once and you can spot them for life. But remember: scammers invent new methods every day. This list is not exhaustive and cannot predict every future scam.
10.1 Overpayment Scam
Buyer offers more than your asking price, then asks you to refund the "difference". The initial payment is fake (reversed later) or made via a non-existent transfer. Red flag: any request to refund money you have not actually received.
10.2 Advance Payment Scam
Seller insists on full or partial payment before you see the item, citing "high demand" or "many buyers". Once paid, they disappear or block you. Red flag: urgency + refusal to meet or video-call.
10.3 Fake Job Fee Scam
Job ad asks for registration, training, uniform, laptop or security deposit. Legitimate employers never ask candidates for money. Red flag: any job offer that requires you to pay.
10.4 Rental Deposit Scam
Beautiful rental at below-market price. Owner is "out of town" and asks you to send the deposit to "block" the flat. Once paid, they vanish. Red flag: price too good, owner unavailable to show the flat, urgency pressure.
10.5 OTP / KYC Scam
Caller claims to be from your bank, iloveblr, the police, or a delivery company, and asks for your OTP to "verify" or "reverse a payment". No legitimate organisation ever asks for your OTP.
10.6 QR Code / Request Money Scam
Fraudster sends a QR code or UPI request claiming you will "receive" money — actually the transaction sends money out. Remember: QR scans and payment requests always deduct from you, never add to you.
10.7 Screen-Sharing Scam
Caller asks you to install AnyDesk, TeamViewer or QuickSupport to "help". They then watch your screen and drain your account. Never install screen-sharing apps for a stranger.
10.8 Fake Delivery / Customs Scam
You receive a call or message saying your parcel is held and a "customs duty" or "delivery fee" must be paid. The parcel does not exist. Verify only through the courier's official app or website, never through a link in chat or SMS.
10.9 Impersonation Scam
Fraudster claims to be from iloveblr, from your bank, from the police, from a brand's authorised service centre, or from a government department. Verify by calling the official number from the official website. Never trust the number given to you in the message.
10.10 Investment / Crypto Scam
"Guaranteed returns", "sure-shot profit", "double your money". No investment is guaranteed. Any promise of fixed high returns is fraud. Report immediately.
11. Property Rentals — Specific Safety
- Physically visit the property before paying any amount. Never pay a deposit based on photos alone.
- Verify ownership. Ask for the property's sale deed, tax receipt, or society NOC, and confirm the seller's name matches. You can independently check the property's khata details on BBMP's website.
- Insist on a written rental agreement. Registered agreements are stronger — for rentals over 11 months, registration is legally required in Karnataka.
- Demand a receipt for every payment — deposit, rent, maintenance.
- Confirm brokerage status. If the ad says "owner direct, no brokerage", confirm this in writing. If a broker appears later, walk away.
- Check utilities. Ask for the latest electricity and water bills to confirm the connection is active and there are no dues.
- Never sign a blank agreement or a document in a language you do not understand.
12. Jobs — Specific Safety
- Legitimate employers never ask for money. No registration fee, no training fee, no security deposit, no uniform fee, no laptop fee.
- Verify the company. Look for the company on official LinkedIn, MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) portal, and the company's own website. A company with no online presence is a red flag.
- Beware unrealistic salaries. "₹50,000/month for 2 hours work from home" is almost always fraud.
- Check for a registered address. Legitimate companies have one. Ask for it and verify.
- Never share Aadhaar, PAN, bank details or OTPs until you have a signed offer letter from a verified company.
- Beware of "consultancy" agents who promise jobs for a fee. Genuine recruiters are paid by the employer, not the candidate.
- Watch for "work from home data entry / typing / form filling" offers. These are among the most common job scams in India.
13. Vehicles — Specific Safety
- Check the RC (Registration Certificate). The seller's name must match the RC. Verify online through the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways' Vahan portal or the Parivahan Sewa app.
- Verify insurance. Ask for the current policy and confirm it is valid and in the seller's name.
- Check for loans and hypothecation. A vehicle with an active loan cannot be legally transferred until the loan is closed. The RC will show "hypothecation" if applicable.
- Check the chassis and engine numbers against the RC and the vehicle itself. Mismatched numbers mean fraud or a stolen vehicle.
- Get a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic — preferably one you choose, not one recommended by the seller.
- Complete the transfer process. Ownership is not transferred by handing over the keys — it must be formally transferred at the RTO. Until transfer, the vehicle is legally the seller's.
- Check for pending challans on the Parivahan portal before finalising.
- Never pay full amount before the RC transfer is initiated.
14. Mobiles and Electronics — Specific Safety
- Check the IMEI. Dial *#06# on the phone to see the IMEI, and cross-check on the government's CEIR portal (Sanchar Saathi) to verify it is not reported stolen or blocked.
- Verify the box and bill. Genuine products come with an original box, GST bill and warranty card. Missing these is a warning sign.
- Test the device in the seller's presence — screen, camera, speakers, charging port, SIM tray, fingerprint sensor.
- Factory reset verification. If buying a used phone, ensure it is factory reset and that you set it up yourself. The seller should not know your PIN or account.
- Check for iCloud / Google account lock. A device still linked to the seller's account can be remotely locked. Ensure the seller signs out of their account before you pay.
- Never buy "sealed" phones without a bill. If the price is far below market, it may be counterfeit or stolen.
- Beware of refurbished phones sold as new. Ask directly about the condition and get it in writing.
15. Brands and Counterfeits — Safety Warning
iloveblr owns no rights in any third-party brand appearing in user listings. Brand names in listings (vehicles, mobiles, electronics, appliances) identify genuine products only — they do not indicate any relationship between iloveblr and the brand.
As a buyer: be cautious of any listing at a price significantly below market for a branded product. Counterfeit, replica, "first copy" and "master copy" goods are prohibited and often illegal to sell. If you suspect a listing is selling counterfeit goods, report it.
As a seller: use brand names truthfully to describe genuine products you own. Do not claim to be a dealer, reseller or authorised service centre unless you genuinely are and can prove it.
Full policy: Terms & Conditions §5. Independence statement: About §2.
16. Digital and Account Safety
- Use a strong, unique password for your Google account, and enable two-factor authentication.
- Never share your Google password with anyone — iloveblr staff will never ask for it.
- Beware of phishing messages that look like iloveblr, Google, your bank or a courier. Check the sender address and URL carefully.
- Do not click shortened links (bit.ly, tinyurl, t.co) from strangers — check the destination first.
- Log out on shared devices, and review your active sessions on your Google account periodically.
- Report suspicious messages to us at email and to the relevant platform.
17. Red Flags — Quick Reference Checklist
If you see any of these, stop and think:
- Price significantly below market rate.
- Seller refuses to meet in person or show documents.
- Buyer or seller creates urgency — "only for today", "many buyers waiting".
- Request to move the conversation to WhatsApp or another app immediately.
- Request for advance payment before inspection.
- Request for OTP, PIN, CVV or password.
- External payment links sent in chat.
- Request to install screen-sharing apps.
- Job that requires you to pay a fee.
- Brand-new profile with no history advertising expensive items.
- Vague answers to specific questions about the item, property or job.
- Photos that look professionally stock or reverse-searchable elsewhere.
- Language designed to create fear — "police case", "your account will be blocked".
- Payment requested to a personal account with a name different from the seller.
Any one of these is enough to walk away and report. But absence of these signals does not guarantee safety — new scams use new signals.
18. How to Report a Listing or User
- Open the ad and use the Report option — available to guests and logged-in users alike.
- Provide the reason and details. Screenshots help.
- You may also write to hello@iloveblr.com with the ad link and screenshots.
- We aim to respond to safety reports within 24 hours.
- Reports are reviewed in good faith. Reporting does not obligate us to remove the content, and our decisions are final.
19. If You Are Scammed — Immediate Steps
Act fast — the first 24 hours matter most for recovery.
- Stop all further payments immediately. Do not send "one more payment to unlock the refund".
- Contact your bank and report the fraudulent transaction. Ask them to freeze or reverse if possible.
- Call the national cyber-fraud helpline 1930 — this is the Government of India's dedicated helpline for financial cyber-fraud. Fast reporting increases the chance of recovery.
- File a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in — the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. Upload screenshots, chat logs, payment proofs and any identification the scammer shared.
- Report to iloveblr at email and via the Report option. We will review the account and may suspend it.
- File an FIR at your local police station for larger amounts or for any threat, abuse or physical safety concern.
- Keep all evidence — screenshots, chat transcripts, payment reference numbers, phone numbers, links. Do not delete.
- Inform your bank in writing if any card or account detail was compromised, and request a new card or new credentials.

21. Our Limits — Stated Honestly
We operate a manual moderation team supported by automated backend monitoring. We respond to reports, remove abusive accounts, and continuously improve our detection. But we cannot:
- Guarantee that every listing is accurate, real or legal.
- Verify the identity, intent or solvency of every user.
- Prevent every scam, every fake job or every fraudulent listing.
- Recover money you pay to another user — the transaction is between you and them.
- Act as a guarantor, escrow, or arbitrator in a transaction.
21.1 No Guarantee — Even If You Follow This Guide Fully
This safety guide is educational content. It is designed to reduce your risk by helping you recognise common fraud patterns, verify listings more carefully, and protect your money and personal safety.
While this guide is manually audited and accurately reflects known fraud patterns across Indian marketplaces, it is not a structural guarantee of safety. Fraud is constantly evolving, and a new scam method can appear tomorrow that did not exist when this documentation was updated.
Fraud is constantly evolving. Scammers invent new methods every day — new payment tricks, new impersonation techniques, new social-engineering scripts, and new technology exploits. A scam that did not exist when this page was written can appear tomorrow. No education page — ours or anyone else's — can keep up with every new idea.
Accordingly, if you follow this guide fully and still get scammed, iloveblr is not responsible or liable for your loss. iloveblr is an advertisement platform, not a guarantor of your safety. Every transaction you enter into with another user is at your own risk.
What this guide can do: improve your awareness, sharpen your instincts, and help you avoid the most common traps. What this guide cannot do: guarantee your safety in every situation.
We publish these limits because honesty is part of trust. Every safety measure on this page exists to help you — but your own diligence is what ultimately protects you, and even that is not infallible against a determined fraudster using a new method.
22. Independence and No Affiliation
iloveblr.com is an independent digital platform — not affiliated with the "I ❤️ BLR" civic installations, any government or civic authority, or any brand owner whose products appear in user listings. Full independence statement: About §2.
23. Our Safety Commitments
Safety content on classifieds platforms is held to the highest standard because it can affect your money, home and wellbeing. This section states the standards we hold ourselves to on this page — and where we fall short.
- Grounded in real patterns: The scam catalogue in §10 reflects fraud types repeatedly observed on Indian classifieds platforms — not invented or exaggerated for effect.
- Actionable, not alarmist: Every warning in this guide is paired with a step you can take — verify the RC on Parivahan, call 1930, refuse advance payment. Fear without action is not safety education.
- Independently verifiable: We cite official Indian authorities (cybercrime.gov.in, 1930, RBI Sachet, SEBI, Parivahan, Sanchar Saathi) so you can act on this guide without trusting us.
- Limits disclosed: We openly state what verification can and cannot prove (§3), what moderation cannot catch (§21), and that this guide itself is not a guarantee (§21.1).
- Updated as fraud evolves: We review and update the scam catalogue as new patterns emerge. If you observe a fraud method not covered here, write to email — we will consider adding it.
- Grievance path: A named Grievance Officer, 24-hour acknowledgement, 15-day resolution commitment. Complaints about safety content itself are treated as grievances.
If you believe any part of our safety commitments is not being met — a warning that is misleading, a step that is unsafe, a limit we failed to disclose — write to email and we will review it as a grievance.
24. Contact and Grievance
For safety questions, user guide requests, report follow-ups or grievances under the IT Act, 2000:
Grievance Officer: iloveblr Grievance Team
Address: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Email: email
We acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days. For urgent financial fraud, call 1930 immediately — do not wait for us.
